The Ocoee City Commission has given the green light to what will become the largest indoor pickleball facility in the Orlando area. The unanimous vote last week clears the way for a 26-court complex that promises to transform the city into a hub for one of America’s fastest-growing sports.
A State-of-the-Art Facility
Planned for six acres at 1000 Jacob Nathan Blvd., the project includes three buildings designed with both recreational players and professional tournaments in mind. The centerpiece will feature 15 indoor courts, a championship-style show court with spectator seating, and a full suite of amenities:
-
Locker rooms and saunas
-
A lobby and pro shop
-
A restaurant and bar with outdoor dining deck
-
A second-story viewing area overlooking the courts
A second building will add 10 more courts, while a third will house an 8,500-square-foot banquet hall and outdoor patio, perfect for events and gatherings. An outdoor gathering area next to the championship court and 172 surface-level parking spaces will round out the complex.
The developers plan to integrate advanced real-time technology that notifies players when their designated court is ready. The system is tied to Pickleball Connection, a platform developed by Vasant Sports LLC that helps connect players to local clubs, tournaments, and performance tracking tools.
Tournaments and Economic Impact
Developer Sravan Tummala confirmed the goal is to host a major tournament every other month, with ambitions to attract top-tier organizations such as APP and the PPA Tour. With every court built to tournament standards, the complex is expected to draw players from around the country and generate new revenue for the city.
“This kind of facility will make Ocoee a natural destination for high-level pickleball,” Tummala said during the meeting.
Why Ocoee?
For readers unfamiliar with it, Ocoee is a Central Florida community in western Orange County, strategically positioned just east of downtown Winter Garden, north of Windermere, and west of downtown Orlando. The city benefits from excellent regional connectivity with the 429 expressway and the Florida Turnpike, making it easily accessible from across the metro area.
If all goes according to plan, Ocoee could soon become one of the premier sports destinations in Central Florida. Earlier this year, the City Commission also approved plans for The Dynasty, a $1 billion sports complex and mixed-use development. Together with the new pickleball club, these projects signal Ocoee’s growing role in the region’s sports and recreation landscape.
Pickleball’s Surge in Orlando
The approval comes at a time when pickleball’s popularity is skyrocketing in Orlando and across the nation. Several new indoor facilities have opened in Central Florida, including:
-
Crush Yard in Kissimmee
-
The Picklr Orlando North in Sanford
-
ClearOne Sports Centre near downtown Orlando
And even the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona—primarily known as the “Home of American Tennis”—has incorporated pickleball into its offerings, further underscoring the sport’s momentum.
A New Chapter for Pickleball in Central Florida
When construction is complete, Ocoee will boast the largest indoor pickleball complex in the Orlando area. With championship-ready courts, real-time player technology, and space for tournaments and events, the facility is poised to play a key role in shaping the next era of pickleball in Central Florida.
